Community

The Firm has enjoyed extensive community involvement since its inception by Harold Tredway (1919-2005). Mr. Tredway bestowed on the Firm a philosophy of public service that inspires our practice. The Firm’s lawyers and staff volunteer their time to support a wide variety of charitable and community organizations, some of which are listed below.

Support of ARC

ARC was formerly known as the Association of Retarded Citizens. Its goal is to help people with various levels of mental retardation to obtain gainful employment and thereby become independent. Various persons in our Firm have served on its Board, and we have represented ARC on a pro bono basis. We have also had a team in the ARC walk since its inception several years ago.

ARC has given back to the Firm. Approximately ten years ago, we hired an ARC trained employee with mental retardation to come work at the Firm, helping with copying, filing, and other tasks. We have now had two such employees, including our current employee, who recently bought a car and is driving for the first time in his life. We are proud of ARC workers!

Participation in Race for the Cure

We participate in the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Race for the Cure every year. The Firm encourages each office to take on their own community service projects.

Holiday Charity Giving

During the holiday season each office worked with a different organization.

The Long Beach office adopted a family through the Salvation Army. Founded in 1865, the Salvation Army is a non-profit organization that provides social aid and charitable work to individuals worldwide. During this holiday season, holiday gifts and a festive meal were provided for over 1200 families by the organization in the Long Beach area. The Long Beach Office was able to contribute by providing a family with everything listed on their wish-list as well as a holiday feast.

The Downey office adopted a kindergarten class from 68th Street Elementary in Los Angeles. They bought and wrapped gifts for the children. They also donated money to help the teacher purchase everyday supplies for the class.

The Irvine office adopted a family through Share Our Selves. Founded in 1970 Share Our Selves is a growing non-profit volunteer organization serving impoverished and working poor populations in Orange County. Share Our Selves offers programs in the areas of Social Services, Medical Clinic, Dental Clinic and their Comprehensive CARE program.

The Long Beach office also supports foster children through Trinity Youth Services. Trinity Services was founded in 1966 with a goal of providing a safe haven for children and teens who no longer live with their parents. This organization offers quality programs in the therapeutic environments to abused and neglected children. Over 1,000 children are helped by the organization daily.
