Tredway, Lumsdaine & Doyle associate, Jennifer N. Sawday, was invited to participate in an informative panel discussion on financial literacy for women. As part of the panel, Jennifer discussed the basics of estate planning and business succession planning for individuals and small business owners alike. The panel was held on July 10, 2009 at the Long Beach Groundwater Treatment Plant as part of an overall seminar hosted by State Controller Chiang and State Senator Lowenthal.
Three very notable celebrities have died. Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett and now Michael Jackson. Each had families. Each had loved ones. Each had assets. And each had potential contestants to their estate. Did each have an estate plan in place that was updated and reflected their wishes?
Time will soon find out. The media will report if their estate administration turns out to be a mess like Anna Nicole Smith’s was.
